The seventh album from this drummer/artist from Great Britain.
Simon Phillips played drums here.
He had help from four guests who added bass, guitars, piano, keyboards and saxophone.
I simply cannot believe this is the first ever Simon Phillips album I am reviewing. I was absolute sure I had reviewed the previous three albums. But no... I will come back to this next year and review his first five albums plus an eventual new album then.
Protocol 6 is clocking in at fifty-three minutes.
The music here is a blend of jazz and fusion.
The music is mid-tempo to fast. The music is both melodic and complex.
The music follows the traditional fusion/jazz formula with a blend of harmonies and solos. The rhythm section is very strong.
The guitars, piano, keyboards and saxophone solos are very good. There is also a lot of good harmonies here.
The result is a very good album and a reminder I need to get his first album and review them.
