The debut album from this band from Norway.
The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, piano, electric piano, organ, monotron, programming and vocals.
Some guests added marimba, double bass, bass, woodwinds, narration, voices and vocals.
The band has released three albums, the latest one last year, and they are all up for reviews this month.
The music on this three quarters of an hour long album can best be described as a blend of Canterbury scene and Frank Zappa's weird music.
The music is jazzy, quirky and very playful. Ditto for the lyrics and the vocals. Lyrics very much in the Frank Zappa vein, although not as controversial and sweary.
The music has some good organs, bass, guitars and woodwinds. The vocals are good too.
There are some really interesting details here and it is obvious that Hatfield & The North plus Caravan is also a major influence on their music.
The result is a good album, indeed. It is also a bit of a surprise to me as I did not like this album when I listened to it when it was released and therefore forgot about it for twelve years. Life happens....
