Pinn Dropp - For the Love of Drama (2025)

The second album from this band from Poland.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

Their 2018 debut album Perfectly Flawed was a very good symphonic neo-prog album.

Seven years has gone and the band has changed genre. This one hour long album is a blend of heavy prog and heavy metal.

There is a lot of Iron Maiden anno the last three albums era influences on this album. The vocals has some Bruce Dickinson's inspirations at their best. When it is not, the vocals is pretty standard prog metal vocals.

Most of this album is a heavy metal album as there is only some sporadic heavy prog.

The music is still melodic in addition of being heavy. There are some really catchy songs here.

I am disappointed that this album is not in the same vein as their debut album and that the band has largely abandoned the progressive rock genre on this album.

That said... this is a good album and one of the few good heavy metal albums I have encountered in the last five years. It is what is.
