Perevod - The Kingdom of Forgotten Whales (2025)

The second album from this band from Ukraine.

The band was a duo with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards, flute, saxophone and programming.

A handful of guests added narrations and vocals.

I reviewed their 2022 album Sons And Daughters earlier this month and was pretty impressed by it. That album contained some modern prog in the vein of Porcupine Tree.

The three quarters of an hour long The Kingdom Of Forgotten Whales is something different again...

This is a concept album and the story is far out weird. The story is told in pretty heavily accented English narrations.

The music is mostly symphonic prog with some neo classical music and heavy prog influences.

The vocals are mostly female vocals and the narrations are both male and female voices.

The quality is somewhere between decent and good. There are some good pieces here and some not so good pieces. This album is a bit of a step in the wrong direction, compared to their superior debut album.
