The debut album from this band from Great Britain.
The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, organ, clarinet, flute, saxophones and programming.
Theo Travis is well known from bands like The Tangent, Gong, The Soft Machine Legacy. He has also released some solo albums in addition to the two albums he released under the name Theo Travis Double Talk. Both albums are up for review in this blog. The review of the second album will be posted in some days time.
Double Talk is a sixty-six minutes long jazz album.
Theo Travis is mainly a saxophonist and his saxophone is very prominent on this album. There are still some guitars and organs here too.
There is a long guitar solo here which is one of the highlights of this album. An album dominated by some mid-tempo jazz. Some of the jazz is also ballads.
There is a jazz version of Pink Floyd's classic See Emily Play which is both quirky and good. The rest of the album is decent to good. This is an album for the jazzheads.
