Steam Theory - Asunder (2015)

The third album from this one-man-band from USA.

The band was a one-man-band with Jason Denkevitz on bass, guitars and electronics.

Three guests added drums and keyboards.

I am not a big fan of the first two albums. Too much generic instrumental prog metal in my view and the albums was not bringing anything new to the table/the scene.

Asunder is a double CD album clocking in at one and an half hour.

The music is again instrumental progressive metal. This time around, there is a lot of samples and electroncs which adds a lot to the sound on this album.

The music is still based on drums, bass and in particular guitars... electric guitars.

The music is also dynamic, bold and a lot more varied and symphonic than on the first two albums. This gives me the belief that Jason Denkevitz has turned the corner with his Steam Theory project.

The result is a pretty good album and a step up in quality. I am pleased with that.
