Spock's Beard - The Archaeoptimist (2025)

The 14th album from this band from USA.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

The band returned again with this one hour long album after a seven years long album break.

The music is as per usual US symphonic prog. This has been their music from their very first album, the Neal Morse era.

The music is pretty elegant, a bit hard and pretty epic too.

There are a lot of harmonies in their music and the music is big and bold.

The vocals is good and the band cannot really be faulted on anything... well, just one thing.

My main gripe with this album is the lack of any really great songs here. There is none. The sound is very good and the saving grace on this album. This is one of their weakest offerings ever, I am afraid. It is still a good album and that says everything about their normally high standards.
