The fifth album from this band from France.
The band was a sextet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, violin, keyboards and vocals.
This is their comeback album, released over twenty years after they released their 2001 album Le Festin. I reviewed that album back in August 2014 in # 1 of this blog and gave it a very good review. Their other three albums has also been reviewed in # 1 of this blog.
This seventy-three minutes long album therefore came as a big surprise as I thought this band was history.
The music on their comeback album is a symphonic blend of fusion, dream pop, art-rock, neo classical music, symphonic prog and zeuhl. Yes, there are some zeuhl structures here too.
The music is very, very complex. Hence the neo-classical music influences. The music is also epic and big. There are no simple melodies here as this album should be regarded as a symphony.
Geraldin Le Coq's female vocals are pretty good. They has a broad range from frantic zeuhl vocals, via more operatic vocals to dream pop. They are all in French too.
All this makes an album which is nowhere near being an easy listening experienc. It can be and perhaps should be regarded as a piece of opera.
The quality is good though and this is an album those who want challenging music should check out.
