Carpani. Alex - Microcosm (2022)

The sixth album from this artist from Italy.

Alex Carpani did the keyboards, bass synths, mellotron, drum loops, electronics and vocals.

A number of guests added drums, bass, guitars, violin, flute, saxophones and vocals.

Alex Carpani returned again after a two years long album break with this one hour long album.

The album starts with a version of the King Crimson classic Starless and I am by now starting to wonder if this is one of the dreaded cover versions/tribute albums. Thankfully, it is not. This version of Starless is nowhere as good as the original version. That probably says more about King Crimson's brilliance than Alex Carpani.

The rest of the album is more of a neo-prog prog album. There are some strong Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree influences on this album.

The music is melodic and pretty elegant. There is a lot of good details here too and the vocals is good.

This is another good album from Alex Carpani.
