Magic Fig - Valerian Tea (2025)

The second album from this band from USA.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, glockenspiel, bass, guitars, piano, mellotron, keyboards, synths and vocals.

This is the follow up album to last year's debut album. A very good album where the music were a blend of psych rock, dreampop, Canterbury prog, indie rock and quirky progressive rock.

The band is more or less going down the same path on the forty minutes long Valerian Tea album too.

The band comes from San Fransisco in California. That town/city has had a psych rock scene for the last sixty years. Bands like Jefferson Airplane springs to mind. Magic Fig is in the same genre too.

The vocals are female vocals and ethereal dream pop vocals too.

The music is melodic and a bit ethereal. This is west-coast psych rock indeed and the music is rooted in the late 1960s.

The music is also good throughout. Magic Fig is one of the most exciting psych rock bands around and their two albums should be checked out.
