The third album from this band from USA.
The band was a quintet with a line-up of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.
I reviewed and really liked their second album The Journey Into (2002) in my review last month and was looking forward to review this album. I will review their final two albums later this month too.
Subconscious is clocking in at eighty minutes.
The music here is a blend of progressive metal and heavy prog.
It is fair to say that their music has mellowed a lot compared to their second album.
The music is still pretty heavy. The music is also mid-tempo and dense. It is also complex, very complex and a bit epic.
There is still a lot of Dream Theater influences here. But those has been diluted with some Metal Church and Flotsam & Jetsam influences. The music is also very progressive throughout. Yes is another influence here.
There is a lot of music here. Not all of it is good though. The music is lacking a bit in inspiration. There are some decent stuff here in between the good stuff.
This is still a pretty good album and one to check out if complex progressive metal is your cup of tea.
