The debut album from this band from Italy.
The band was a quintet with a lineup of percussion, violin, viola, guitars, balalaika, dulcimer, zither, woodwinds, harmonica and whistles.
This band released three albums between 1972 and 1976. Albums now up for reviews in this blog during the next week or two.
The music on this album is a blend of world music and avant-garde rock.
The opening track When The Light Began is a coherent, good composition. The rest of the album is more a kind of a loose session recorded without any coherent thinking.
There is a lot of wild woodwinds here and other instruments who come in and out without much coherence.
The music is decent enough but nothing more than that despite of this album being ranked as a semi-classic album by some websites and reviewers. I do not share that view...
