The debut album from this band from Great Britain.
The band was a trio with a lineup of drums, guitars and vocals.
Some guests added synths and guitar solos.
Ihlo has been described as the new hope in British progressive metal. Or make that, the worldwide progressive metal scene. They have so far released two studio albums, one live album and one remastered instrumental version of this album.
The music on this fifty minutes long album is progressive metal with some pretty strong electronic pop and djent influences.
The music is both heavy and at times, pretty dissonant. The djent influences comes through loud and clear throughout this album.
It is almost tempting to label this album, and indeed band, as post-progressive metal. A pretty precise and correct label nobody has ever used. Maybe this blog becomes famous for inventing this genre....
The music is pretty good throughout with some good vocals. Not everything is good but this is an acceptable debut album.
