Major Parkinson - Valesa Chapter II Viva the Apocalypse! (2026)

The sixth album from this band from Norway.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

A number of guests added percussion, guitars, woodwinds and vocals.

The band returned after four years with the second chapter of the Valesa story.

This three quarters of an hour long album. Their first five albums has been really good and this is one of the best Norwegian bands at the moment.

There is a lot going on here on this album. The music is a blend of heavy prog, art-rock, vaudeville rock and actually... funky brass rock.

There is some brass/woodwinds on this album. This on some songs who clearly are in the brass rock genre. These songs are funky too.

Most of the music is pretty hard and very quirky. There is a strong fun party feeling on this album. Some Frank Zappa influences are also evident here. There are also some Sgt Peppers era The Beatles influences here too.

This is both a strange and engaging album. The quality is also good throughout this album. An album that will win this band a lot of new admirers.
