Alto - Happy Ambrosia (1980)

The second and final album from this band from Germany.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards, saxophones and vocals.

Their music on the self-titled debut album from this Kraan offshoot was a blend of soul, fusion and jazz.

The band has not changed much on the three quarters of an hour long Happy Ambrosia.

There are less soul this time around and more fusion.

There are still a lot of vocals, female vocals here and a lot of saxophones. There are also lots of guitars and keyboards here.

The album kicks of as more a rock album than a fusion album. Thankfully, the music then become more fusion than rock after five minutes and the rest of the album is jazzy.

The music is, as with the album art-work, stripped back and a bit bare-boned. That said, this is still a good album with a lot of good details and music.

This is a bit of an underrated band that deserves a lot of credit.
