Alto - Alto (1978)

The debut album from this band from Germany.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards, saxophones and vocals.

This band was a Kraan splinter group who released two albums between 1978 and 1980. Both of them are up for review in this blog.

I have reviewed all the Kraan albums in the previous three editions of this blog in addition to one review in ProgArchives.

Alto is clocking in at forty minutes and the music is a blend of soul, jazz and fusion.

There are a lot of a alto-saxophones here in addition to the electric and half-acoustic guitars.

The music is dynamic and pretty melodic. There is a lot of drive and progression in the music. There is also a lot of good, interesting details here.

The female vocals are still good. Half of the album has vocals, indeed.

The result is a good album and a bit of a hidden gem. A gem jazz and in particular fans of fusion and indeed the band Kraan should check out.
