Deposed King - One Man's Grief (2023)

The debut album from this band from Hungary.

The band was a duo with a lineup of bass, guitar, keyboards, synths, drum programming and vocals.

This is another case of getting their new album, then discovering that the band has released their debut album some years ago and therefore picking up that album too. The review of their second and new album will therefore be published sometime before the end of the year.

The music on this one hour long album can best be described as eclectic prog. There is some post-rock and electronica influences in the music here too.

The album starts with a long post-rock influenced instrumental piece before the good vocals come in.  The music is then a mix of instrumental pieces and vocals. The balance between instrumental pieces and songs are pretty much spot on and cannot be faulted.

The music is rather melancholic and downcast. It is also very beautiful at times.

The result is a very good album indeed and a debut album that promises a lot. I have added this band to my list of highly talented bands.
