The fourth album from this band from USA.
The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, piano, keyboards, mellotron and moog.
Two guests added congas and flute.
I am not a fan of their first three albums. They are too much run-of-the-mill instrumental heavy prog albums. Hence, I had no expectations whatsoever to the forty minutes long Starstuff.
The music is still instrumental heavy prog.... With some variations.
The introduction of flutes, keyboard and some acoustic guitars has softened up their sound and made it far more organic.
The melodies is also better here.
The result is some more interesting music than I am used to from this band.
The result is a pretty good album and their best album so far. I am positive surprised.
