The third album from this band from Norway.
The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards, electronics and vocals.
As I wrote in my review of their first album, this band was formed by Odd "Fezza" Ellingsen, the guitarist in St. Helena, Akasha and Høst. Odd Ellingsen was indeed the main force in the best Høst album Hardt Mot Hardt, a masterpiece in the great Norwegian progressive rock scene.
As with their other albums, Ansikt Til Ansikt was released as a CD-R album in a limited run of 100 x. Their eight albums were compiled and re-released in the widely available Opus Magnum box last year. I am reviewing their albums and this box this summer.
Ansikt Til Ansikt is clocking in at thirty minutes.
The music is again pretty special. The music is a blend of dark art-rock and dark symphonic prog. Thule is again a good reference. There are some more dark psych rock this time around.
Arctic Prog is what I would label their (and Thule's) music as I did in my reviews of their first two albums. That does not really give any meaning..
The vocals are again dark operatic male vocals.
This album is not as good as their first two albums. This is still a pretty good album.. but still a bit of a disappointment. More reviews of their albums will be added next month.
