The fourth album from this band from USA.
The band was a duo of Donald Fagen and Walter Becker with a lineup of bass, guitars, piano, keyboards, saxophone and vocals.
They got help from some guests who provided drums, haldorophone, percussion, vibes, bass, guitars, piano, keyboards, woodwinds and backing vocals.
This is the follow up album to their great 1974 Pretzel Logic album. An album I really fell for as you can see in my review last month.
The band is now officially a duo after a change of personnel and lineup. Donald Fagen and Walter Becker was always the two main persons in this band and the duo format just formalised this fact.
Katy Lied is a thirty-five minutes long album where all surplus fat is cut and the ten songs are short and punchy.
The music is quirky, jazzy art-rock. Donald Fagen and Walter Becker had an unique way of composing songs and that shines through on this album too.
This album is not as great at Pretzel Logic. It is still a very good album and another charmer.
