Bakelit - No Fear of Drowning (2025)

The second album from this band from Sweden.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, theremin, organ, electric piano, synths and vocals.

This album is their follow up to their rather good last year's debut album Asleep Or Insane. I reviewed it earlier this year in this blog.

No Fear Of Drowning is a forty minutes long opus.

The music continues more or less in the same vein as last year's Asleep Of Insane.

That means melancholic, muscular neo-prog with a lot of art-rock and some psych rock influences. The music also have this Scandinavian symph prog sound. The band has indeed moved a lot more towards Scandinavian symphonic prog on this album.

The music is bold, epic and big. There is lot of layers of guitars and synths in the bottom of the male and female vocals.

The sound is good and the vocals is very good.

This is a good album and one that will please everyone into both muscular neo-prog and Scandinavian symphonic prog.
