The third album from this band from Australia.
The band was a trio with a lineup of didgeridoo, drums, percussion, bass, guitars, piano, keyboards, harmonica and flute.
I gladly admit that I was nowhere near won over by their first two albums. Hence my expectations to Rex Migius were pretty low.
Rex Migius is a three quarters of an hour long album. The music is a blend of folk rock, baroque classical music and symphonic prog.
The music is majestic, big, bold and epic. It is also pretty melodic too.
The sound on this Bandcamp album is not particular impressive. The electric guitars are so far back in the mix that this is clearly both a mixing and a mastering issue. An issue which has largely killed this album stone dead.
The music is largely good. This album is an improvement on their first two album. A pretty impressive improvement, too. But it is impossible to overlook that bad sound. Hence....
