Green Carnation - A Dark Poem Part I: The Shores of Melancholia (2025)

The seventh album from this band from Norway.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, organ, keyboards, synths, effects, samples and vocals.

Three guests added percussion, flute and extreme metal vocals.

The band originated from the black metal band In The Woods and released their debut album in year 2000. I have reviewed both them and the In The Woods albums in this blog. See # 2 and # 3 of this blog.

This forty-two minutes long album is part 1 of a series of concept albums, I gather. The band has ambitions... High ambitions.

The music too has a lot of concept album ideas. Both in the lyrics and the music.

The music is gothic progressive with some black metal interludes between the more calm and brooding heavy prog metal. There are also some pretty strong folk rock influences here too.

The clean vocals is really good and there is a lot to like on this album. This good album, that is. This is another good album from this band and well worth checking out.
