Lazuli - Lazuli (1999)

The debut album from this band from France.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of percussion, marimba, bass, guitars, chapman stick, synths and vocals.

Earlier this year, I reviewed their latest album Etre Et Ne Plus Etre. I liked it a lot as you can read in my review here. I also liked their eighth album a lot as you can see in the review here. Hence, I got the rest of their albums and they are all up for review this summer/fall.

Lazuli is clocking in at one hour.

The music here is neo-prog with some heavy prog influences.

The music is lush and colourful. It is also melodic.

The female French vocals are adding a lot of the colours and lushness here. The music is also a bit exotic.

The vocals are good.

The quality of the music is pretty good. The band had yet to master the art of writing good songs. Nevertheless, this is an acceptable debut album and worthy of your attention.
