Hackett & Rothery - The Roaring Waves (2026)

The debut album from this duo from Great Britain.

Steve Hackett and Steve Rothery does the guitars, bass, keyboards and harmonica here.

Three guests added drums, bass and keyboards.

This is the long awaited album from these two super-guitarists. Two legends from the symphonic prog and neo-prog scene. Neither of these two guitarists needs any introduction.

The album clocks in at three quarters of an hour.

The music is symphonic prog. Instrumental symphonic prog, that is.

References are both Steve Hackett solo albums and Camel.

The two guitars complement each other on the melodic music here. There are one more bluesy rocker here too and some more folk-rock inspired melodies.

This album is a bit of a grower as the music sounds uninspiring during the first listening sessions. The music, the flower, then starts to open up and some new details emerges.

The result is a very good album and one to check out if melodic prog is your thing.
