Angine de Poitrine - Vol.1 (2024)

The debut album from this band from Canada.

The band was a duo with a lineup of percussion, guitars, programming and vocals.

This band has so far released two albums and they are pretty popular. Both their albums are charting high on the alterntative rock lists. There is indeed a hype around this band. That is also based on the costumes the band is wearing. That is one of the reasons I am reviewing both albums this summer. A review of their new album will be posted in some days time.

Vol. 1 is clocking in at thirty-two minutes.

The music is math-rock.

The music is minimalistic and bare-boned. The music is basically one guitar, percussion and some voices. That is all.

The album is based on rhythm figures, performed by the rhythm guitar and the percussion.

The music is pretty catchy. The music is still pretty melodic. Is it traditional prog rock ? No. The music is more like a novelty, like the Swedish band Ghost.

The result is decent enough. I don't really understand the hype here. This band is more a novelty act than anything else as their music is not really that interesting.
