The fourth album from this band from Norway.
The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards, electronics and vocals.
I have reviewed their first three albums they are all good. You can find these reviews somewhere else in this blog.
Sfinks is clocking in at thirty-five minutes.
The music is again what I would define as arctic prog. The band is from beyond the arctic circle with total darkness for 5 months of the year. The same goes for Thule, another band in this region, although 1000 km further north.
That means a blend of dark folk rock and art-rock. There are also some hints of symphonic prog here. The music is depressive with some guitar solos and operatic baritone Norwegian vocals on top of the sound.
The music is muscular but not particular heavy. There are some good Jethro Tull influences throughout this album.
This is not their finest album. The quality is pretty good though. Fans of Scandinavian prog rock should check out this album.
