Styx - Crash Of The Crown (2021)

The 17th album from this band from USA.

The band was a sextet on this album with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

Many years ago, I reviewed their first sixteen albums in # 1 and # 2 of this blog. It is fair to say that I did not become a fan of this band. The band has released two more albums and I am reviewing them this summer... starting with this, their seventeenth album.

The music on this three quarters of an hour long album is a blend of mainstream rock and pomp rock.

The mostly mid-tempo music is well performed and James Young is a very good vocalist.

The music is very pedestrian and does not have many good details. The sound is the typical US mainstream rock sound.

There is no real good songs or any good pieces of music here. The songs are short and rather punchy.

This is a decent enough album but nothing more than that. I am yet to be won over by this band.
