Chercán - Chercán (2025)

The debut album from this band from Chile.

The band is a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, electronics, saxophones and vocals.

A trio added violins, viola and cello to this album.

This band was formed after La Desoorden and Hominido split up. Two good bands who has released some albums. Albums reviewed in the previous chapters of this blog.

The music on this three quarters of an hour long album is a lively blend of eclectic prog, Latin rock, folk rock and jazz.

The music is dynamic and very lively. It has a lot of saxophones on the top of the guitars and bass. The vocals are in Spanish too and they are really good.

The music is very complex and eclectic at times, bordering to avant-garde at times. Other pieces of music is more melodic.

The music has a great South-American ambience and it is obvious where this music and album comes from. Yes, South-America.

The music is hard at times. Hard because it is complex and pretty epic.

The quality is good throughout and this debut album is hailing the emergence of a new, great band in the progressive scene. This is what I hope and this is what I believe. Fans of eclectic prog should and must check out this album.
