Monnaie De Singe - The Story of Rose Øla Seks (2021)

The third album from this band from France.

The band was a sextet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

The band returned again after a three years long album break. This album is the reason why I thought this band was from Norway as the album title is partly in Norwegian and there are many other references to Norway on this album. I therefore picked up their three albums... only to find out this is a French band. No harm done as their first two albums are two good albums.

The Story of Rose Øla Seks is clocking in at three quarters of an hour.

The music here is modern heavy prog.

Porcupine Tree is a good reference. Ditto for Riverside and Blackfield.

The music is muscular and hard. There is a lot of guitars here. The keyboards is supporting the guitars.

Anne Gaelle Rumin's vocals are floating on the top of the instruments again and is pretty dominant in their music. Her vocals is also very good.

This album is their so far latest album. I hope we will hear a lot more from them in the future as this album and their first two albums are good albums. This band is like a fresh breeze in the scene.
