Chimpan A - Music Is Art Vol.1 (2025)

The fourth album from this band from Great Britain.

The band was a duo with a lineup of bass, guitars, keyboards, drums programming and vocals.

Numerous guests added drums, bass, guitars and vocals.

The band, make that this duo, returned again after a five years long break.

Rob Reed from Magenta continued to explore the pop and soul side of his creative mind. That with this ninety minutes long album. A double CD album, no less and a Bandcamp download album.

The music is catchy, melodic electro pop and soul.

The opening track Wolves is a catchy hit single... if the band had pushed this song on the Billboard charts. Nevertheless, it is a good song.

The rest of the album has some floating Pink Floyd stuff and a lot of instrumental stuff. There are also some Mike Oldfield, the Tubular Bells references here and some narrations.

The male and in particular female vocals is good. Christina Booth from Magenta does some vocals again.

Half of this album is good. The rest of the album is decent enough. There is simply not enough good pieces of music here to justify a ninety minutes long album.

2.5 points
