Border Hills - Border Hills (2025)

The debut album from this band from Italy.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of bass, guitars, lap steel, keyboards and vocals.

Two guests added drums and bass.

The band is one of the latest additions to the ProgArchives archive of neo-prog bands.

This fifty minutes long album starts out as a Magenta copycat album before the music changes course and goes more into a more melodic neo-prog direction.

Yes, the music has female vocals. And they are good. There are also some good male vocals here.

There is also a lot of symphonic prog like epic instrumental music here too. Some of the music has some RPI influences too.

Most of all, this is a neo-prog album in the Dutch neo-prog tradition.

There are some good guitar solos here and the music is really good. Very good at places.

This band is a welcome addition to the prog rock and in particular the neo-prog scene. This is a debut album which should put the band on the map. This is a borderline very good album but I am bumping it up due to the very good vocals and guitar solos.
