The debut album from this band from Great Britain.
The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, piano, keyboards, narrations and vocals.
The band was formed back in 1979 in Durham up in the north-east corner of England. Life intervined and the band was put on hold again until a couple of years ago when this album was recorded and released. An EP was released the same year.
The music on this one hour long concept album is symphonic prog. It comes complete with some narrations too. A lot of narrations, in fact.
The theme is the life of John Walker, the scientist who invented/discovered the friction match.
The music is mid-tempo, melodic and pretty elegant.
The music has some Genesis influences too and the vocals is pretty good.
The result is a pretty good album and one fans of symphonic prog concept albums should check out.
