The second album from this band from USA.
The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, mandolin, dulcimer, autoharp, keyboards and vocals.
This is the follow up to the 2012 album Olden Tales and Deadly Trails, a pretty good album I reviewed earlier this month.
Sleep At The Edge Of The World is clocking in at fifty-five minutes and sees the band continues down the path between folk rock and death metal.
Their 2012 album were a much more folk rock album than a death metal album. The band has moved far more towards death and progressive metal on Sleep At The Edge Of The World.
The music is more brutal during most of this album. There is though some pastoral pieces and some folk rock pieces here. This band reminds me a lot about Enslaved although Enslaved in their viking metal is leaning a lot more towards Norwegian black metal whilst Wilderun is leaning towards US death metal.
The vocals here is a mix of growls and clean vocals. The music is epic and monumental throughout this album. The music is also good to very good at times.
This is indeed a good album and one to check out. The reviews of their, so far, latest two albums will follow around New Year's eve.
