Ihlo - Legacy (2025)

The second album from this band from Great Britain.

The band was a trio with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards, synths and vocals.

Three guests added guitars and vocals.

This album is the follow up to their 2019 debut album Union. I reviewed this album some days ago and gave it a pretty good rating.

This band, as with Cea Serin, is a part of the new wave of progressive metal bands. This is bands who has taken the Dream Theater blueprint and expanded the music into other directions while still being a progressive metal band.

Legacy is clocking in at seventy minutes, divided on ten long pieces of music.

The band has ventured down a more melodic, symphonic path compared to the other bands in this genre. There is indeed a lot of pomp rock here too.

The sound is big with a lot of harmonies and multi-layered instruments. The vocals is good.

The music is pretty complex. There are not so many catchy pieces here and this album therefore requires some listening sessions before it's true values reveals itself.

The result is still a good album and the hype around this band is therefore justified. Check them out.
