The one and only album from this band from Germany.
The band was a quintet with a lineup of handclaps, drums, percussion, bass, piano, electric piano, organ, synths, saxophone and flute.
This album is, from what I understand, part 1 of the two parts Chameleon album series. Part 2 was released by the Fuchs-Goos-Band in 1981. I will review that album in some days' time.
Chameleon is clocking in at fifty minutes.
The music on Chameleon is a blend of jazz and fusion.
The music is both dynamic and melodic. It is also slow, mid-tempo and fast. The music is varied in other words.
There are some really good trumpet and in particular saxophone solos here. The electric piano, piano and synths are underpinning the music with some very good themes. The rhythm section is very tight with some good fills.
The sound is great.
In my world, and I am pretty inexperienced when it comes to jazz, this is some of the better jazz I have encountered lately.
This is indeed a very good album in it's own rights and a hidden gem who deserve a lot more attention.
