The second album from this band from Great Britain.
The band was a trio with a lineup of drums, percussion, guitars, keyboards and vocals.
Numerous guests added bass, guitars, keyboards and strings.
I reviewed their 2018 debut album Origin Of Species back in August 2021 and liked it a lot. They then slipped under my radar before I got their new album some days ago. I will review that album and their previous album sometime this year.
A Frozen War is clocking in at just over half an hour. The music, as on their debut album, is sci-fi neo-prog.... which is a slightly meaningless phrase.
Blend fast progressive metal with neo-prog. Add in lots of strings too. That is a description that makes more sense.
The main instrument here is the electric guitars and we are getting a lot of guitar harmonies and guitar solos. There is also a lot of very good vocals here.
The music is pretty melodic with some mellow pieces throughout.
This is an album that really throws a punch. It is also a good album and well worth checking out.
