The fifth album from this band from Finland.
The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards, synths, saxophone, flute and vocals.
I have been reviewing their albums on and off for the last years. Including my review of their fourth album earlier this month. Most of the reviews can be found in # 3 of this blog, see here. That also include a review of their most recent album, their sixth album. A good album, btw.
The band has throughout their career been a heavy prog band. Their music has always been that muscular. Each of the albums has been pretty different from each other.
This fifty minutes long album is still based in heavy prog. The band has also added some folk rock and pomp rock here. There is some Porcupine Tree, Haken and Jethro Tull influences here.
There is always some reference to the 1970s Finnish prog rock scene.
Their albums has been very commercial over the last couple of albums (but this is not the case on their sixth album..). Too much slick at times. Their music is elegant throughout.
The vocals is good and there are still some complex pieces of music here. This is barely a good album but it is still a good album, saved by the great sound. This is still not their best album. Nevertheless.....
