Autumnal Blossom - Against the Fear of Death (2013)

The debut album from this band from Germany.

The band was a sextet with a lineup of didgeridoo, bass, guitars, cello, piano, keyboards, programming, flute and vocals.

This band was a side-project of the German band Poor Genetic Material who has so far released sixteen albums and are still active.

Autumnal Blossom released two albums between 2013 and 2016 before they gave up the ghost. Both of them are up for reviews this spring.

Against The Fear Of Death is an hour long album and the music is in the folk rock genre..... sort of.

The music is acoustic with no percussion. The basses here, double basses, does the rhythms. We get acoustic guitars, cello, flutes and piano with some keyboards doing the melody lines behind the female vocals.

There is a lot of vocals here, indeed. They are good and that is almost the only good thing about this album.

The music falls a bit flat on it's face as the melodies are falling well short of acceptable standards and indeed my expectations.

This is a decent enough album but just that. I am not impressed.
