The second album from this band from Great Britain.
Spirergy is a one-man-band with Dave Allen doing the drums, bass, guitars, keyboards, electronics and vocals.
This is the follow up album to the very good 2023 album Aeon. An album I reviewed last month in this blog.
That album was very similar to a classic Yes album. So I expected more of the same on Journey Beyond...
The one hour long Journey Beyond reminds me a lot about an album from the Dutch band Us. That means a lot of Yes influences combined with a lot of Camel influences too.
The music is indeed symphonic prog. The music is also melodic but not as technical and full of interesting details as on the Aeon.
Some of the music is a bit too pedestrian too.
That said, this is still a good album. It is an album fans of symphonic prog will like. I still prefer Aeon, though...
