The fifth album from this band from Finland.
The band had expanded to a nine-pieces band on this album with a line-up of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, harmonica, flute, trumpet, programming and vocals.
The band returned again after a four years long album break. I like their first four good albums too so I was looking forward to this album.
A Tale is clocking in at three quarters of an hour.
The music is art-rock.
There are a lot of folk rock influences in their music too. Finnish folk rock, that is. Call it prog folk too. Add in some cinematic rock too and you get the picture.
The music is elegant, melodic and warm. It is also complex and slightly epic. It is also eclectic too. A lot of things this album is...
The mix of electric and acoustic instruments is very good. The trumpet is adding spice to their music.
The sparse vocals are very good.
There are some very good cinematic symphonic prog pieces here too which is adding a lot of quality to an otherwise good album. There is a lot to enjoy here.
This is indeed a very good album, bordering on a great album. This is one of the better albums from this year. I am certain that this album will end up high on a lot of progheads album of the year list.
