The third album from this band from USA.
The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.
Numerous guests added strings, piccolo, flute and recorder.
I have reviewed some of the Echolyn albums during the last fifteen years. Their albums are hard to find and I can only review those albums I have found. That is around four of their in total eleven albums.
Echolyn is one of the classic US symphonic prog bands. They album debuted in 1991 and has recently released two albums. This after a ten years long break. I reviewed one of this year's albums back in April this year in the # 3 of this blog.
Echoly has always been compared to Yes and this seventy minutes long album may explain why.
There are also some very strong Gentle Giant influences on this album. The blend of these two bands plus the very considerable original creative inputs from Echolyn themselves makes an interesting proposition...
The symphonic prog here is also very influenced by baroque classical music too. Baroque symphonic prog is indeed a label that would fit this album.
The music is melodic, baroque and full of interesting details. The sound is also retro 1970s. The vocals is very good.
There are some very good pieces here and some not so good pieces of music. This is still a very good album and a bit of a reminder to me that I should now collect the rest of their albums.
