Blood Incantation - Starspawn (2016)

The debut album from this band from USA.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars and vocals.

I have heard a lot of very positive words about this band. Hence, I decided to put their four albums up for review on this blog, starting with this, their debut album.

The music here is pure death metal.... on the first ten minutes of this album, that is.

The death metal is pretty standard with some decent growls (vocals) and riffs.

After these ten minutes, the music becomes a bit more psych rock, a bit trippy psych rock, that is. There is still a lot of death metal here. But it is obvious that this band is not a standard death metal band and that they like to wander around in the psych rock genre too.

The music is pretty dark and a bit doomy at times. There is a lot of variations on this album, indeed.

The music is pretty good throughout. It is one of the better post millenium death metal albums I have encountered too. I cannot wait to sink my teeth into their remaining three albums.
